Two Heads are Better than One
For the next few months, RSU will be in the fortunate position to have two Presidents.
After serving as President of the university for 10 years, Dr. Joe Wiley has announced his retirement, effective June 30.
In the wake of this announcement, the university’s Board of Regents has appointed Dr. Larry Rice as President Designate. After June 30, Dr. Rice will become the 12th President of RSU.
Dr. Wiley and Dr. Rice will serve side-by-side during the next few months, working to ensure a smooth and seamless transitional period.
“I know that RSU students, faculty, and staff share my deep gratitude to Dr. Wiley for his decade of vision and leadership as President,” said Dr. Rice. “I’m looking forward to continuing his initiatives and meeting his high standards of stewardship for this great institution.”
“Dr. Rice has a lifelong passion for RSU and is the ideal choice for President,” said Dr. Wiley. “He began his academic career as a faculty member at RSU and completed his doctoral dissertation on this history of the institution. He will bring a wealth of experience as an educator and leader.”
The university is in the midst of several exciting initiatives, including the construction of the Student Services Center, expansion of the Pryor Campus, and continued development of new academic and athletic programs.
